Who Can Take the YÖS Exam 2024 – Universities Accepting Students with YÖS Exam. YÖS (Foreign Student Exam) is an exam administered by the universities of the Republic of Turkey to enable foreign students to apply for associate and undergraduate programs. Students who get enough grades from the exam are entitled to enroll in universities. The grade that the candidate must get in the YÖS exam in order to apply to the University is called the limit grade. YÖS limit grade varies between 40-70 according to universities.

Who Can Take the YÖS Exam 2024

The most important requirement to apply for YÖS is to be a foreign national or a Turkish citizen who completed their high school education outside Turkey. If any of these conditions apply to you, the rest of the conditions below apply:

  • Being a high school graduate or a final year student
  • Being a foreign national with a blue card
  • Turkish citizens with dual nationality
  • Turkish citizens who completed their high school education in any foreign country other than TRNC
  • Northern Cypriots who reside in Northern Cyprus and completed their high school education in Northern Cyprus and have a GCE AL result

These universities admit students with the YÖS exam. Since each university has its own YÖS exam, some universities accept other universities’ YÖS exams. For example: Istanbul University YÖS exam, Kunib YÖS exam, Ankara YÖS exam and Yıldız Technical YÖS exam are accepted in some specified universities. For this reason, you should definitely check which YÖS exams are accepted from the web page of the university you will apply to.
Note: Some universities do not accept any YÖS exams other than their own exam.

What are the YÖS Exam Questions?

YÖS exams generally have three sections: math, geometry and general skills. The questions are usually between 80 – 100 questions depending on the university. Mathematics is usually between 30 – 40 questions, Geometry is usually between 5 – 15 questions and general abilities are usually between 40 – 60 questions. Very few, but some universities ask questions from different subjects. These subjects can be from physics, chemistry, biology and history taught in high school.

Mathematics and Geometry are asked very comprehensively. The general aptitude section asks scientific and formal questions to test candidates’ critical thinking. The general aptitude section is known as the IQ section among students. The exam duration is usually between 90 and 130 minutes.
